Plan your surgery > Date of Admission/Surgery
On the day of your surgery, you will be admitted to the hospital in plenty of time for your operation. We will do our best to minimise any waiting but some time is needed to complete the admission paperwork and checks. This process is performed by the ward nurses who will show you to your room and explain the available facilities to you. Every attempt is made to ensure you are comfortable and that you know what will be happening throughout your stay.
Before your surgery you will also be seen by your surgeon, and you will have the opportunity to ask any further questions. Any specific skin markings that are needed before the operation are done at this time and pre-operative photographs may be taken with your consent. The operation and risks will be discussed again and you will be asked to sign a consent form for the procedure.
If you are having a general anaesthetic, your anaesthetist will also meet you to discuss the process of putting you to sleep and waking you up afterwards. When it is time for your surgery, you will be taken through to the operating theatres.
